Roger Bryan CD Release 8/25

Hey everyone, after Johnny Nobody this is the 2nd of many HarvestSum releases this summer/fall. Roger's excellent band for the occasion is made up of 60% of the old sweethearts, 25% of Vera Lena, and Matt Smith (who I won't get statistical about). Also on the bill are The Hammond Shutdown, and Hussalonia Here's the info:

Finishing le recording

So at the moment we've got very few shows planned, but we're working on that. Right now we're putting all our energy into getting our record finished a.s.a.p. With andy on tour until sept. we thought this would be a perfect time to wrap up some loose ends and get the album release-ready. Look for some preview mixes to be posted here soon.

As of yesterday we tracked the remaining songs written for our new record. With the total being close to 20 we now have to finish up some vocals and some other bells and whistles and the record should be ready to press by the end of june. We will be posting some new songs in the next few weeks when they start to take a little more shape. In show news we have a few coming up and here they are.

12.18:
recording/xmas

We've officially gotten 1/2 of our next record recorded. There were many lessons learned during the "arms of the town" sessions about using recording time wisely and not going too insane in the studio, so we expect this album to flow much faster. It should be done in Jan. and out soon after that.

Roger and Andy also spent some time with Mark Norris in his backing band "the backpeddlers". Their debut CD was released this past Saturday at Mohawk Place and we all think It turned out great. To hear it just go to harvestsum.com and click on the "sounds" link.

We've been invited to play the annual Mohawk Place X-mas Party this Thursday (DEC 21st). Unfortunately Andy will be on tour with Johnny Nobody, but we've come up with a suprisingly low-key xmas set that we think is alot of fun. Joining us onstage will be former skoi guitarist, Chris Groves on percussion. I think we missed our calling as a holiday novelty act.
Hope to see you there!

09.28:
shows / photos / recording

Our shows lately have been random and full of random occurences. We managed to escape NYC with a few bruises and only $100 in the hole, which is fairly good for a NYC show. Thankfully the next few shows were all lots of fun and more than made up for our night trudging around manhattan like PBR-drinking robots. In Boston we played for 4 hours straight, and instead of throwing shit at us, people actually seemed vaugely interested - further cementing my opinion that Boston is one of the wierdest/best places to play.

We recently played an outdoor festival at Sculpture Park, in Western NY. Photographer Mike Calanan was there to capture the various goings on. Check out his photos in this online gallery.

We've got rough plans to begin recording a few songs within a few weeks, which I think means a new record due out this winter. I'll post more info here when I get it.

R.I.P. Clearmotive

Clearmotive's final show last night was really great. Its nice to play a show with a bit of diversity once in a while. Starting their set with a recording of "dust in the wind" was a nice touch. As an encore they had all of us Old Sweethearts back on stage to blast through a dubious version of "sufferagette city" Good times.
If you have any photos of us that night please send them to me so I can put them up on the site.

ps. any mac/safari users out there may notice some stuff missing from our website. I havent quite worked out all the kinks yet. Primarily I think the Contact section on the lower right of this page isnt loading? Well anyway, just wanted to say I'm working on it.
